Do you believe in Magic?

The Orlando Magic have always been a team to keep your eye on, but now they have Jason Richardson who is respectfully one of the best three point shooters in the league, playing along side JJ Reddick- also a great three point shooter (even though he went to Duke, I won't hold that against him). And then you have Gilbert Arenas, who despite causing some drama for coaches is still a solid player. And he went to University of Arizona so what's not to love about him.

Last night the Magic beat the Spurs who had been on a 10 game winning streak. If you are a Suns fan, or know anyone who is a Suns fan, you know how much we don't like the Spurs. So any team that puts them in their place- I like.

Looks like there is a new powerhouse team arising in Florida, and no I don't mean the Heat. Hopefully Van Gundy can hold onto this roster for the rest of the season, I know I'll be paying more attention now.

Merry Christmas!

Alvin Gentry- Coach of the Year or Looking for Headlines?

As you'll learn, I am a huge Suns fan. Maybe that is even an understatement. Either way, I've followed them through many head coaching changes, and I think Gentry is a good fit. With that said, what was he thinking only playing 8 guys last night against the Spurs, a team we have lots of (bad) history with. Granted, we have a great starting line-up and Grant Hill score 30 points the night before against Oklahoma City. But he's old. Let him rest.

So I ask, is Alvin Gentry a genius coach, or just looking for some buzz starting his new guys in Miami Thursday?

Christmas Wishlist

As I get started writing this blog, I look around and see Christmas cheer everywhere. From the Celtics who are on a 13 game winning streak to Tim Tebow who gets to start another game in the NFL despite losing to the Raiders last week. This got me thinking, what are my sports wishes for this Christmas. Well I'll tell you.
  1. Auburn Tigers win the BCS Championship- WAR EAGLE!
  2. Tiger Woods wins a Major- prefer the Masters if possible
  3. Arizona Cardinals draft Cam Newton and we finally have a QB since Kurt Warner left
  4. Steve Nash wins the MVP
  5. Sharks win the Stanley Cup
  6. Jason Richardson gets traded back to the Suns
  7. UofA Basketball program thrives again
  8. Tiger Woods becomes #1 best golfer again (see #2)
  9. Adam Scott takes permanent residence in San Francisco, and wins a major
  10. Last but not least for my local fans, Giants win the World Series... again
One more for good measure: fantasy football team wins the championship

Well there you have it, top 10 wish list for this year.... so far. What are yours?
